Having now decided not to get an electric coolbox, due to noise and possible mechanical breakdown, plus limitations if we decide to go without EHU, i have done a good search on here about coolboxes and come to the conclusion that coleman and igloo seem to be the favouyred makes for non electric boxes.

There are 2 types of igloo the maxcold and the ice cube. is there any difference other than shape?

Are igloo better than coleman?

TIA and thanks for your patience.

I've got a Coleman Extreme 70qt and it's very good for a weekend, although it apparently keep things frozen for up to 5 days. I do however find it a bit too big sometimes as the wasted space is inefficient in keeping the contents cold.

the maxcold keep things cold for 5 days where as the ice cube just keep things cold for 3 days.ive just bought the icey tek ive tested it out at home twice and ive still had a small amount of ice on day 4 and things are still nice and cold on day 5,quite expensive though but very well built.for me the igloo and coleman 5 day boxes were far too big and bulky as we have limited space and theres only 2 of us.

hi  igloo over coleman any day

igloo have better insulation which is ultratherm polyurathane developed in 1947 by igloo and still used today

the main difference between the coleman and igloo is the igloo have thinner walls and are straight  this is because the insulation which is 1" thick the coleman is 2"-3"  and this is quite noticable on the extreme 36 as it steps down inside  the coleman are more bulky than the igloo so check what space you have and read the details which will give the otter measurements on our web site

another vote for the icey tek, we have the 25ltr and it is fantastic if a little expensive,

the biggest problem we seem to have is people taking our ice packs!!!

Coleman and Igloo - I have been looking at these, but am a little concerned over the size - I have told OH I would like one for a Christmas present (very practical of me I know!), but have also said if he could find something smaller that would still suit our needs (milk, cheese, butter, some cooked meat/meals and some drinks that would be great.
