All, I have an awesome Coleman Northstar lantern that i used in our old trailer tent. We're moving towards an Outwell SIG tent, and some initial research suggests it's a massive no-no using a lantern like this in one. Opinions?
Been out buying LED lanterns off the bay tonight but I'm going to miss the sheer throw and warmth of the Coleman...!

I've also got one to replace a smaller camping gaz lantern; not used it at camp yet. I think the instructions advise against using in tent or certainly in hanging it from roof. Given the heat output from my gaz lantern I certainly would not risk the larger Coleman, unless it was in a canvas tent with high roof, or set low on a table with good clearance. Then there are possible fumes to consider.

yh the coleman northstar is a banging lantern. i use my dual fuel versions at full blast all the time. they are brilliant performers.

lanterns like the northstar should never be used in tents/enclosed areas is what i understood to be the case but if somehow you were able to use northstar in medium/large sized tents i imagine you wont ever need full blast, more like half way or two thirds max.

whenever i'm outdoors using the northstar its always at its brightest and lasts about 4/5 hours like that if full up (petrol).

how long would a 465g cylinder last with the propane northstar at full setting?

cheers.
