We used to use the spare wheel to support a cheapy halfords car rack, but I did drill a 4mm hole at the top and both sides of the rear door this to take a steel hook and strap to stop any sway has to be supported from middle/top of door and of course secured with straps to the spare wheel, works very well but it is a long lift up, it is living in my garage since the Terrano left home.
