Been into Bradburn Camping at Wigan today and discovered its closing after 40 years - they're having a clearance sale on almost everything and talking to one member of staff whats not cleared will be taken to their sister branch at Radcliffe - so if you want a bargain get along there fast - closing by the end of September 2011 - sad to see them close though but believe its the only branch of the JR Leisure chain that is -
Too true - brought nearly all my stuff there over the years and brilliant staff too - even their old manager stayed close by working next door at Wigan Caravans - always happy to say hello and give good advice - this is what I'm going to miss about this shop the quality of top service - the friendly staff - and being local - never going to go outdoors - the staff are ignorant or don't know anything and everything is overpriced even with the discount card - no might have to travel a bit then I will - willing to even try out their Radcliffe store if they have the same standard of service
Sorry that my previous post was a bit frivolous. Been there this afternoon and the staff are really cut up about closing. They know about this thread and hope that it will bring people into the shop. I wish them all well in the future.
------------- 2* Camper soon to be a 3!
Got me an areobed so I'm off camping!!
If your dog thinks you are the best, don't ask for a second opinion!
Indeed I recall this place as a kid in the dim and distant past when they also had a sports shop in Wigan called JJ Bradburns. JJ Bradburns was bought by one Dave Whelan who saw a gap in the market and expanded the chain to become JJB sports and in the process helped make his second fortune from trainers and track suits. Here endeth the history lesson!
Update on closing - shop closes on 25th September - next Sunday - Good Luck to all the staff - especially Wendy and Clive who will be transferring to Castlecroft Camping - always found these two very helpful and knowledgeable on all forms of camping
been in today and grabbed a few more bargains - Wendy was telling me that Wigan Caravans next door to them will be doing some caravan accessories in the near future and have already took on the calor gas and leisure batteries
Been to the Radcliffe store and Wendy and Clive have now settled in - they were saying Bradburn Camping is going on line hopefully next Monday with some different products to what they normally carry in the shop so will have to take a look - 19th December with any luck - the actual store is alot bigger than Orrell with an indoor dedicated tent display on the first floor displaying about 25 tents including new Vango and Outwell tents plus some on the ground floor with a couple of second hand trailer tents - so its well worth a visit - personally I will be using them
