Hi all

I recently bought a replacement battery for my re chargeable lantern, it came fully charged and lasted about 4 to 5 hrs. I recharged it until green light came on( took about 14 hrs though).

Took it camping switched it on first night all nice and cosy then ten minutes later the light went of, now back home I have put it back on charge and the green light is still on to show the battery is fully charged, I am now thinking l might be unlucky and the bulb has gone although it has had little use, now I have thought more about it, the light just went out it didn't gradually dim, I have looked at the bulb and there are slight signs of discolouration, what are your views please. Does anyone know where you can obtain replacement bulbs as I have checked all the usual places on line but not having much luck.

If it's 9w and  a 2 pin push fit type, like mine, it will be a General Electric Energy saving Biax S,  G23 (9W = 60W) Warm White 600Lumen 10000hrs. or whatever the generic equivelant is.

Got mine from Tesco £1.47 as a spare, a couple of years back.

thank you for your reply, mine has 4 pins it slots in from the top of the lantern, and the top screws down onto the pins

Does anyone know if this is suitable for 9w rechargeable lantern, looks exactly the same, the bulb from lantern (gelert) is marked FLS/E 9W 5000K

Thanks for reply, yes I emailed Gelert yesterday waitng for a reply, can't believe how hard it is to get spares for these lamps,beginning to wish I had just bought a new lantern, getting tempted to buy a gas one.

It will almost certainly be a standard type lamp,can you pop a photo up? Almost all rechargables use standard 240v type. They dont last as long as they would in a mains fitting though,and they never seem to be the common ones.

That is what I suspected, an electrical supplier had said the same, he said it was probable that all lantern manufacturers would use a standard type bulb.

Might help if they made this clear, as all of the camping outlets also seem unsure on this.

Thought I would update this

Gelert phoned me today, they are going to send me a replacement bulb out

free of charge, now thats customer service
