Hello all, just to update I still hav'nt found a pair of boots yet, I'v done loads of research following the advice of you guys and come to the conclusion that I want a pair of all leather boots that are going to last, but the stuff I'v looked at are all mixed with synthetic materials. For example Scarpa use fake leather in their ankle to create more flex. Brasher were bought out by Berghaus and the quality is an issue. 

Whilst all this high tec stuff has a place I just want a traditionaly made pair of boots. 

Hello Steve I cant remember where I read it- somewhere on line-. I have trawled through that many reviews.  I went into a berghaus store to try their boots and the only boots they had in was berghaus and brasher so I suspect that they were taken over.  I really liked the Brasher they were one of the few boots I found comfortable, but the reviews I read about the soles wearing out put me off.  However, I have still kept my options open. I was told that the older Brasher boots were indestructable.  If I could find a new older pair I would buy them without hesitation.

Brasher Hillmasters every time. They are tough and lightweight which makes a big difference if you are doing a lot of miles. The all leather finish is very practical - just wipe the mud off after going through a swamp. They are waterproof (Gortex) but I periodically polish/wax to stop the leather cracking. As I live by the sea. I also put a bit of boot wax onto the steel eyelets to prevent rust from salt water

Thanks for that Jules I think Ill have a trip to there shop in Richmond and have a look, Its not that far from here.
