We have one (from a recommendation on here) and it is great. You don't have to have the bars on the car all the time and when we buy a new car it just transfers over without fuss.
------------- Jewelsm - a fair weather camper
August 2013, 14, 15, 16 & 17-Trevornick for two and a half weeks of sea and surf (and ever optimistic -lots of sun). Some other weekends if I can persuade DH
I dont have either of these but do have a Kamei Husky XL and it is great - easy to get onto the car (we have Whisbars also from roofbox.co.uk) and easy to pack.
Have used it in really heavy wind and rain and no leaks, and the fuel efficiency isn't affected too much.
The locking system on the Kamei is also brill and you will never lock the keys inside!
I think Kamei make the boxes for Mercedes, VW and BMW!
PLEASE take care when loading and unloading roof boxes - I'm currently sitting here in a plaster cast after breaking my ankle this afternoon from falling whilst unloading a topbox!!!!!!
We have the Kamei Corvana 310 and really happy with it. We got it from www.roofbox.co.uk and I asked them which to recommend between the Kamei and Thule and they recommended the Kamei. It's really waterproof - nothing has ever got wet inside it.

That's quite a lot smaller, shame there's no way to fit two on a car.

We have a VW Passatt estate and also the handiholdall fitted...plenty of room for what we need, in the pic below we had all the bedding, table, cupboards, cooker, picnic blankets, towels, pillows a couple of large cardboard boxes (flattened)and could've still squeezed a few more things in if needed.
yeah me too but can't justify spending that much as I don't know how much (if any) extra space I need. I have a people carrier with three children and a pushchair so until I load it for the first time I really don't know if I need it. I managed to get the handirail from a carboot for £2 so itching to get a roof bag
Just got a Kamei Corvara 390 and very happy with it. The hinges/locking/mechanical side of things feels solid - as you'd expect from a german brand.
There were some tests in germany (sorry can't find the link) looking at the capacity of roof boxes and the conclusion was absolute litre measure can be misleading - a smaller corvara not much different from Thules that quote considerably higher volume.
We have a multipla and with three teenagers were struggling for room.We can fit two handiholdalls side by side on the roof and it is brilliant. Also an added bonus is we pack/unpack them on the floor then lift them into place so problem of accessing roofbox is solved. We're really please with them.
