I think the Michigan looks like a good short stay tent depending on the size of your family, if it's just you and a partner I think you could stay in quite happily for quite a long time. The reason I say short stay as if you have a family and its wet, I think it could get cramped - which is exactly where I was a few weeks ago in a very wet Wales and hence now trying to find an extension for the Idaho!!!

Happy camping.

Hi Dave Mitch.  Just wondering if you had any luck in finding a front extension for you Idaho XL?  I know they are like hens teeth.  You sometimes see them come up on EBAY from time to time.  I have had a look at the Oakland XL extension thinking that may be an option but it is 45cm wider than the front part of the tent which is no good.  Cracking tent though.  We have had ours nearly 2 years now and we love our trips away in it

That was a good bargain!!  The Vermont is also another great tent, but as an owner of an Idaho XL - think it may have been too big for the pair of you.  We love ours and it has even housed two families, but have bought a Vango Icarus 600 for weekend trips as it is too much to put up for a short trip (doesnt help that I take the whole house when we use it as it's massive!!).  We are lucky enough to have got the tent for £200, 12mths old off friends, and then managed to get the footprint and extension brand new for £110 from Discover.  I have also bought the carpet and kids room too!!

For those wanting the extension - keep looking as it really is a valuable extra.

Hello everyone,

No luck yet, still looking, they do seem to be rarer than rocking horse poo!!! I did see an Outwell with a Vango wrap over extension, but it left gaps at the side which seems kinda pointless to me!
