Wilko has now reduced the last of its remaining camping stock to 75% off at my local one. Theres not a lot left but I did pick up a couple SIMs for £3.75 each. Having not used sims before though Im not sure if they are going up right. I opened the valve and it inflated for about 1 sec, the difference was hardly noticeable. I dont mean to grumble having having got such a large discount but I would like to know how they work.
Thanks

Have you left it with the valve undone? They need a while, then give them a couple of breaths too, though for £3.75 wouldn't have thought they'd be particularly comfy on their own but would be an extra layer of insulation underneath an airbed.
Yes exactly what I was thinking, I didn't really need them but at the very least they would work with the airbed. I left them for about 2 min, maybe I should leave them for a lot longer.

Not specific to the Wilkos one, but a rep in one camping store told me a SIM woud take approx 20 mins to inflate. Quicker in some temperatures and slower in others.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
My SIM was a big disappointment the first time i used it. Second time was much better. dunno if they just need use and air to get them going?

never managed to get any sims from wilko but got an air chair/bed, small BBQ and charcoal, utensils, tin opener and 2 fleecy blankets all for £13 in the sale...well pleased.
As the SIM has been stored at the shop rolled up and compressed it needs a good few puffs into it to inflate it fully. You should then store it fully inflated until you need it and you'll find that when you unroll it next time it'll inflate a lot faster.
I normally store mine open, but forgot the other day when I bought it home from using it while staying at a friends house. It was only rolled up for a week before going camping but it took loads of puffs to get it to fully inflated once we were there so it does make a huge difference.
sims are suppose to get round the inflation with a pump method by the act of the foam inside pushing out the cover sucking air in at the same time ,shutting the valves traps the air and away they go.
fine and dandy in the south of France so the outer is lovely and warm and doesn't resist the foam expanding and the sim expanding to its full extent ,unfortunately here the cover resists so you need to help it artificially with your lungs or a pump.
not found one comfortable on its own as being a fatty even the artificially inflated thing is far to thin to keep me from touching the ground
