Black Friday is the day after thanksgiving day in America . Name given because of all the traffic on the road after thanksgiving day. Hope this helps.......
i thought it was when your wallet was empty the thursday before.or it could be the day your caravan/motorhome is actually made with lots of faults built in.
The sale coincides with 'Black Friday' in the United States, the day after Thanksgiving when stores traditionally slash prices and the Christmas shopping rush begins.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Here, as far as I know, Black Friday is the last Friday before December when everyone thinks it's time to get the credit card out because you have to allow a few weeks for delivery. It started in the US but Amazon have single handedly brought it over here.
Another one from my band booking days is Freaky Friday, but that's much later, the Friday before Christmas when the offices empty out into the pubs for a big knees up.
Madscot66 is correct in so much as "Black Friday is the day after thanksgiving day in America", but it is because the sales start that day and the amount of money going through the tills on this one day makes the difference between the shop being in the red (with the bank) and getting back into the black. Sales actually start at midnight on the THURSDAY!
The shops are packed and no matter how large the carparks are (and in USA the carparks are really LARGE) it is almost impossible to get a parking space. Amazon are now starting to try and cash in on another payement day.
PS. Thanksgiving day is the last Thursday in November.
We've been keeping a big eye on Black Friday offerings this year as it seems to be the new retailing trend. Looks like Amazon are making it big over here, followed by Comet and a few of us independents following suit. We're on Amazon too and I must say it's made a big difference to traffic so they must be getting some of the marketing right
The big day for online trading is meant to be this Monday 28th (nicknamed Cyber monday) when everyone goes online to get their Christmas presents in time for the big day. Monday is always the biggest day of the week online (it's just one of those things) and apparently the 5th is also set to be big as couriers and companies have got better at delivering things in a rush.
The day after thanksgiving is called black friday because its the single biggest shopping day of the year (and all the shops bank accounts go into the black, I assume) - so it's irrelevant here. But if people offer bargains, I don't mind buying today!
I work in e-tailing, and am thinking tomorrow will be busy, but also Wednesday this year as people will be at home either "striking" or looking after kids due to "strikes"
------------- Yes, the car is bigger than the 'van.
The pre xmas sales start on Black Friday and according to one news report, the name fits. One woman in a store had her eye on a half price x box and pepper sprayed at least 20 people and calmly walked to the till to pay.
