Hi, I am brand new to caravaning. I have purchased a Bailey Orion 400-2 and am now looking for a porch awning. I have heard that because of the design ie the curved roof line at the back not all porch awnings will be suitable. Because of the small size of the unit I may be restricted to a 180cm awning. The right hand upright would have to go close to the door as the downward roof curve  starts about 7 or 8 inches past towards the rear. I think a 180cm would be fine as it will only be for a muddy springer. Any help, pointers in right direction , or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

What about the Sunncamp Swift:

Sunncamp Swift

At 220cm wide, you might just be able to sneak it as far to the right of your door as possible, and with just one front pole there's nothing to damage the van and the rear canvas will just follow the shape of the awning track.

Or, the Kampa Rally gets good reviews on these boards:

Kampa Rally 200

But, with this having steel poles and being 200cm wide, they might end up over your window?

The Sunncamp Ultima 180 is just 180cm wide (there's a clue in there, somewhere!):

Headroom won't be as good as on the Kampa Rally, but it is the size you want. Just be aware that, with porch awnings, you have a bit of roof panel in the awning track which overshoots the actual width of the awning (if you see what I mean), so when measuring which one is best for you, do allow for this (it won't matter if it is on the slopey bit). Measurements usually refer to the footprint, so the roof tends to taper in a bit anyway.

Ellesbelles,

Thank you for the replies, I think I would be alright with the Kampa 200.  I thought porch awnings only came in 3 sizes ie 180, 260 and 350. The Kampa should stop short of the window. I will re measure. Don't quite understand the bit about roof panel in the track, being a new boy I can't visualise it. Bye the bye always good to converse with a fellow Yorkshireman :-)

Thanks

If you look at this pic of the Kampa Fiesta 270, you'll see what I mean about the roof panel overhang in the track (not a major problem if it extends into the curved part of your track, so long as it still gives some protection):

Looks like the pale gold one would be a nice match for your van?

My favourite lightweight awning tuns up yet again.
