Hi all

I wonder if anyone has any help they can give me:  In just over a week we are going to collect our new caravan and I'm mostly really looking forward to it, I've never towed a twin axle before but the layout etc suits us so well that I am going to give it a real good try......

The new van is an Elddis Rambler which is an Elddis Avante 646 and its lovely  but our existing insurance company (Caravan Guard) say we must have a proactive tracker on it to insure it with them.

I know when I was looking around a couple of months ago I found a tracker and if you joined the Caravan Club you got about £180 off the tracker but I can't remember which one it was - currently we are members of the Camping and Caravan Club but I have been fancying joining the Caravan Club to see how it compares.  Has anyone seen this offer or can they recommend a tracker?  I'm going to get a few other quotes too to see if everyone requires us to have a tracker.

Any advice would be greatfully received

Thanks

Angela

Hi Angela

Good luck with the new van. I bet your well excited

I went had a look on the CC site and they do mention this tracker
http://www.metis-products.co.uk/tracking/getmycaravanback.php

NOW I only had a quick scan
2 options non monitored and monitored
Monitored cost you at least £100 per annum

You could change insurance companies ?

You can go onto the CC site and search and read up on it.

Hope this has been of some help.

Hi

Just posting a belated thank you for taking the time to reply - been a mad couple of weeks as whilst we were washing the Bailey that we had before trading it in we found a couple of cracks so had to persue a warranty claim before we could collect the new van.

We did change the insurance company in the end, changed it to C&CC Insurance and they were cheaper and did not require a tracker either!

The new van is ace, I was really nervous about towing a twin axle as I hadn't done it before but the day was lovely - a little bit of breeze but nothing much - I could tell that I had more on the back as the pathfinder didn't tow all the way in 6th gear lol like it used to most of the time with the Bailey but the extra space will be great and the extra storage too.  Can't wait to go away now.

Thanks for the advice/help though.

Angela

We bought a new elddis crusader super sirocco 6 mths ago, caravan told us the same. They said that no one will insure your top end twin axle with no tracker, so after much research I bought the phantom pro active tracker with 5 yrs subscription.
