I went to costco yesterday in Milton Keynes and bought the igloo maxcold wheeled 62 litre for £44. They also had a 100 litre one there as well, can't remember price. What is the best way to prepare these, is it just to shove loads of ice in, frozen bottle etc a couple of days before, then load it up with frozen stuff and cold stuff when you go?
This is what we do - a few days before we go away we fill as many large plastic bottles/milk cartons etc that we can find with water and freeze them in the chest freezer in the garage, the more the better, I try and keep lots of empties in the garage, 4L milk ones are ideal.
The morning of the day before we go I bring the igloo in and fill it with the frozen bottles and leave them until everything else is packed and we're almost ready to go.
When the bottles of water come out the freezer I put all the ice blocks in, plus fresh new bottles of water (after pouring a little bit out)
When everything else is packed, the last job we do is fill the igloo - we put a 2L frozen bottle of water in each corner and then fill it with a combination of frozen and fridge cold food and ice blocks. We also freeze other drinks in smaller bottles, not just water but squash too, they help keep everything chilled and it means we've got lovely ice cold drinks on hand for when we're putting the tent up
