We have the handirack and holdall system, it is a great system except for if it is raining when you are on the road, the rain seeps through the straps and drips inside the car, not very pleasant
Just get the roofbars, you wont look back. I have learned that camping is only as good as the equipment you buy. I bought the bars, the box, the trailer etc, etc lol.

We bought the Handirack 2nd hand and the people selling it told us they had the water problem; as we rarely use the things, I'm not too bothered
I did consider getting 'real' roof bars & box but like ickle ali we don't have the storage space and leaving them on the car drains the fuel economy. I also think the handirack system encourages you to remove it all after use.
Had seen comments that rain can get inside car - no such problems. Had also seen comments that rain gets into the bag itself - so only put items in that didn't matter if got wet. Huge amount of extra space. Once we arrived at site, took bag and bars off and kept stored away. less space than usual roof box.
Suited our needs perfectly.

Kinky is using using a feather; wierd is using a whole damn chicken!
Just noticed the typo error on my first post - costs £125 not £250 and that's without the £5.00 discount offered via UKCS.
Thanks for the info, might persude OH to try it out.
We have a company car that's due to be changed so don't want anything permanent and this sounds like a reasonable compromise. Perhaps we'll still be able to fit the tent, gear and kids in the car after all!
BTW mentioned it to my friend and she thought it was April Fool a month earlier!
I bought the Handirack, roof bag and the bag that goes inside last year. Used it several times, twice in rain and was dreading the thought of stuff being wet but it wasn't. Don't know if I was just lucky but I'm more than happy with it
Make sure you practice putting it on a few days before you go away though!
------------- I don't need it...I'm not buying it....but I really WANT it!
Hi we had one of these and we used it a few times whilst we decided if we liked camping, we did and have just invested in roof bars and box now we have decided to carry on. Its a good comprimise if you are thinking of changing your car soon. Had no problems with leaks just make sure it is all really tight, fits loads in! One tip don't leave the 'bar' on in the sun! We did (maybe being a bit nieve and lazy!) and one of them popped.

How long were they on for? we are going to Cornwall in the summer with a 6-7 hour drive and I really wouldn't be happy if that happens on the way there
