.....In the last couple of days I could swear I read a topic on here that included a picture of a light. Looked like a capsule, black on top half and then white on bottom half as it's suspended from tent roof. The poster talked about it throwing light in all directions and not causing shadows etc. I can't find it now for love nor money :(

If anyone has a photographic memory, I'd love a link to it!

Thanks

TCx

If it's a small light you're talking about it sounds like a Kampa Firefly.  We have several of these and they're very good for their size.

Hi Griffglen. That's the one. I feel a berk of the highest order now as I've just gone on Amazon and put in 'tent light' and the firefly came up on the first page. I scrolled down and read the reviews and low and behold it was the exact same text that I'd convinced myself was posted on here....duh!

Went away for the first camp of the season this weekend and have come home to spend money on some new things we 'need' lol!

Think I need to get off this laptop as I'm clearly losing the plot *blush*

We got some last year - think Charlie's Outdoors were the cheapest.  They proved really useful as small enough to use in bedroom pods etc.  I also take one to use as a nightlight whenever we go anywhere with the kids.

A bit more googling and I found the dimensions, 14 x 5.5 cm HERE, out of stock though, but there are a few other websites that have them.

Thanks for that just ordered mine from Johns Cross , it was cheaper than I'd found it.
Trouble was while browsing the site I came across the Outwell collapsible bowls so now i need one of those ordering it would have doubled the delivery cost though, but i've discovered Go Outdoors sell them and seen as it's only up the road it would be rude not to pop in and get one

I got those bowls from go outdoors too. Really worth it - i'm on a collapsible focus!

No worries, we all love a bargain - leaves us more to spend on other things (we might not really need :))

I got my light yesterday, very quick delivery It's a bit scuffed in places round the dome part, but I can live with that it will probably get that way after one trip anyhow.

But I was a bit disappointed at first too, in fact I didn't think it worked to start with, the batteries are a bit of a tight fit especially the positive up one, which was stopping the spring pushing the battery against the contact, it was only when I used some cheapo batteries that are slightly smaller that i realised it worked and I found the base quite tricky to get back on because I couldn't push the battery right down as it wouldn't spring back up

Anyhow, it's good in that being capsule shaped the light will spread better and it's bright enough, but i'm not sure it's any brighter than the little Rolson UFO's that I already have.

Don't think it's as bright as my UFO either, but that has a lot more led's in it. Mine came in boxes. Not really sure the free standing use will be very stable, I may make a couple of brackets for them to sit in.

Mine came today also, nice neat little unit, will be perfect for my bedroom pod, as said above probably not as much light as the UFO unit, but good for a localised light source in a dark corner.
