Hi Steph and welcome to UKCS!!!

We recently bought our porch awning second hand from a dealers and I think we got a real bargain, it is a bradcot one with alloy poles in immaculate condition and we only paid £150 for it!!!!! I'm sure if you shop around you would be able to pick up a really nice one for a decent price. I think I would prefer to buy second hand and get a good quality one then to purchase new for a chepaer brand!!!! Good luck in your search!

Val is right, 2nd hand porch awnings are 10 a penny, peeps seem to buy them and not use them.  We paid £95, used twice, takes 10 mins to put up.  We were well pleased.  Ours is an Inaca.  Keep an eye on ebay and freeads.

We bought one from GMEX on Saturday for £99 one of the new designs, looks more like a tent than an awning. Never seen the type we bought before and haven't used it yet, but have had good reports on the Sunncamp version which looks simlar and costs about £125 from Towsure.

Steph

There's nothing wrong with NR awnings they represent really excellent value and you do question how some manufacturers justify charging 4 X as much for the same size awning! We have had several NR awnings over 20 years of caravanning. Now back to the other part of your question, have you looked on E-Bay? I sold one on E-Bay last year and was surprised how much I got for it so keep an eye on value as some times these auctions run away with themselves. Our porch had alloy poles which we found very good and of course lightweight. The only problem with porch awnings is that they are just as much work to put up as a full awning!

Thanks everyone for your advice, will keep an eye on the ads and also check out the dealers for a 2nd hand bargain i think..We looked at the lightweight awnings at   G.MEX,but dont think they would be strong enough,as we want one for the dogs(big dogs)to sleep in ,as well as leaving muddy boots ect .

Steph.

Some dealers sell off last years models at discount prices. Often its only the curtains that have changed pattern for the new season !!

Hi steph ,most of the big dealers have 2nd hand porches so have a gander there,as David Klyne says putting up a porch awning is just as bad sometimes as a full sizer,(awning rage is less with a porch)hehe Our first porch was second hand Isabella minor nice but fairly old so recently have bought new Dorema Toronto Hilton and although we use it for longer stays we now use a Caravanstore canopy (fiamma) this is really easy to use and worth considering for summer Have fun.......

Hi Steph, I've got 2 porch awnings for sale in the free ads.  Not doing a free ad thingie.  Just to say that the cheaper one, the NR, is excellent quality, and was only used for 3 weeks by hubby when working away. It was great for putting wet coats, wellies etc in, but not a lot of space for other stuff, like dogs sleeping in over night.

The dearer one is a Trio, the opposite end of the scale, cos they cost over £750 new now.  Basically you get what you pay for, the quality is far superior to the NR, is much much bigger, approx 9ft x 7ft at widest points, and all three panels zip out, making it ideal for dogs in the summer, you can zip panels down or take them out completely for a sun canopy.

Happy hunting, I'm sure you'll find the right one eventually.  Jan
