We use one of THESE in our tent.  It gives off a good amount of light with an energy saving bulb

Hi I am in the process of doing this but instead of replaceing the full Awning light I have purchased some SMD LED's, from Ebay with the same connection (BA15s) as the Awning lights bulbs, havent installed it yet but I'm sure it'll give better light, than was there previously.

We have a couple of these bulkhead lights which clip to the frame (ideal for frame tent or awning use) only they do get a bit hot - even with energy-saving bulbs - which worries me a bit.

So, I'm thinking of getting one of these: Kampa Sabre, once I figure out how we're going to transport a 4ft long tube light without breaking it!

We use an inspection lamp with a low energy bulb.  It's cheap, tough and gives out a good light.

I've got one as well, use it in the awning the light it emits is excellent. Mines made by Quest but exactly the same.
