Hello campers,

Well being a newbie in the true sense of the word(not got a tent yet)I am hopeing to get some much needed advise on here,as looking through threads you all seem very helpful. My question is can anyone tell me the highest porta loo available,as I have hip problems, and would need the highest type.I am also wondering if anyone else has this type of problem.I would need my own loo as to be rushing out in the middle of the night to use site ones is a definate no no,I just wouldnt make it.

I would just like to say thank you for any help given, and look forward to being a part of this site,I have obviously looked at others, being excited at impending camping trips, but still find myself eagerly looking at this one, many thanks....................

Welcome to the site Debbie, glad you are enjoying it!

I have bad legs and found the portaloo a bit of a problem in our caravan. I constructed a wooden base to sit it on which raised it to a decent height for me. Meaured the height of a disabled persons toilet and subtracted the height of the portaloo to get the ideal height for me.
Looks a bit like an upside down draw with a lip around the top to stop the loo moving, covered in waterproof varnish and a rubber mat cut to size for added safety! As we are caravanners the extra space issue did not affect us. A similair idea could be used in a tent and when travelling you could turn it upside down and sit the loo inside it to save on space.

Hope that all makes sense!

Happy camping!!!

I had a Porta Potti that had a waste tank was about the same size (height-wise) as the the top tank. There was a lady camped with us who had hip problems and had the same model - she coped OK with it.  I've checked the Thetford website, and the 365 model is 414mm high (just over 16 inches)

When we used the Pota Potti before the days of the fixed cassette I made a plinth from blockboard  which the toilet sat on quite successfully.

I seem to rember having an arrangement  that hooked under the handle at the back with large rubber door stops at the front

Happy Camping and welcome to the site

17 Cas, Jimmy's Thunderbox - not seen that one before.

I always have the opposite problem, the cassette loo in my motorhome is too high, me being vertically challenged, and my legs dangle. 17 It was the same in my last caravan as the P-P had to stand on a plinth in the washroom.

The tallest I have had was a bucket & chuck it type which I got from a car boot but I don't think they make them anymore.

why dont you get someone to make a box that you can place the portaloo on but the box could then be used for packing things away in later.

We have the Porta 465 version and while its at an 'OK' height, its just not right ergonomically for an enjoyable read of the  the Sunday papers .......I like the small box idea to go underneath it.....guess what iam making this weekend :)
