I'm looking for battery, or solar powered lighting for our tent, a Vango Monte Verde 700.
Not sure what would be best, although I suspect a few smaller lantern types, hung strategically may give best performance...
What would your recommendation be? Anything I should not bother wasting my money on?
This will be our first camp trip as a family. I used to camp a lot, but, not for about 10 years now. I'd appreciate the benefit of all your collective experience. Thanks
Sorry to barge in on your post Ygerna, but i too have these lights Eileenhoops and they are great for the first night, but then need new batteries to be anywhere near as bright again.
Have I just got some dodgey ones, or do they really need new batteries each night?
We have just bought one of these...only tested it at home so not sure about how long the batteries will last but gets 5stars on amazon. Its also quite compact which I like.

It sounds to me like you have some dodgy ones. Ive been using these from Wilcos for 5 years and i only have to change the batteries once a year and have used them on the last of 20 odd nights away to play trivial pursuit in the tent without struggling to see.
I would recommend them to anyone
I have those lights from Wilcos too, absolutely brilliant, cant fault them, and i havent had a problem with the batteries so perhaps you do have some dodgy ones

Have got a couple of rechargable ones from Tesco. One on charge now, will test it for brightness later, but, the other has a fault and won't charge so, will take that back tomorrow.
we used 4 of the wilco UFO lights while away last year for a 12 night stay, they were great would recommend them to anybody. Even when powered with rechargable batteries they are great. Don't bother with wind up lamps because the only thing they do is wind you up
