Ordered a Cobb and its arrived. I can't wait to try it out. Has anybody got any experience of this BBQ? I'm hoping with this and my cadac that cooking will be a lot easier than with my old camping cookers
If you search cobb on here, you will fine loads and loads of posts. Main tip i have read is don't keep opening lid to check food. They take a long time to cook properly
My tips would be: don't leave the grill plate on over the coals/Cobblestone after you've finished cooking, or stuff will weld to it! Do pour some water into the moat when it's finished and put the lid on for a bit, so it can steam clean, then put the bits into a trug bucket of hot soapy water, to soak a bit and make cleaning easier.
If you have the Kitchen in a Bag version, make a list or diagram of how it all fits in the bag, or you'll end up spending longer packing the Cobb away than the tent!
Q. Will all of the Cobb accessories fit in the carry bag?
A. If packed correctly the Cobb with fry dish, fry pan, griddle & dome extension will fit in the bag. This is how to pack the bag. Start with the empty bag then place the components in this order:
1. Griddle (in bottom of bag upside down)
2. Cobb base with inner bowl and fire basket
3. Fry pan
4. Place grill plate, roast rack & all the smaller items on top of the fry pan
5. Dome Lid
6. Invert dome extension and slide over top of dome
7. Invert fry dish on top (you may find it easier to place in roof of bag when closing)
I don't get number 7 - by fry dish do you mean the shallow fry pan? as opposed to the deeper wok/frying pan? Also - you'll be amazed at how much extra stuff you can get in to save space - I pack the following in order (from the ground up) in my Cobb when I go camping
Griddle upside down
Base
Inner bowl & basket with Charcoal, lighters...etc ready-to-go
Some larger cutlery items fit in the well for transport
Wok (large fry pan)
Shallow fry pan
Grill plate
Roast rack
Plastic camping plate
Small cutlery (knives/forks)
Camping kettle
Medium mixing bowl (upside down)
Lid with extension ring placed upside down on it
Thats almost my whole kitchen when camping for a weekend:) - The space under the lid is quite large use it to save space.
Good luck with your Cobb, they're great pieces of kit.
