we used vacumn bags last year .worked well ,we used our air bed electric pump on "suck". it did not get the package as smallas when we used our home hoover.but we managed.

We asked to borrow the campsite vacumn ,but they did not have  one,?maybe able to use ones at the petrol station/garage valet bit.we never have as always clean car ourselves.I was shocked at just how many towel we took.hand ,beach shower and for hair, tea towels.used micro towels before and didnot like the texture,shall try again.the other option we used was just to wash them half way through the hoilday
