I just use cheap ordinary mugs - wrap them in tea towels for transporting.      OK we've not broken any when camping so far, but wouldn't be too upset if one did get broken.

Same here. Take a couple of spares in case you have an accident, be careful how you pack them, I don't see why you should be any more at risk of breaking a mug camping compared to being at home.

yes we do the same, i dont like drinking my morning tea out of a plastic cup.

seems pretty unanimous then, I've plenty of 'old' mugs at home so I'll just use them and save my money for some other absolutely necessary camping purchase, of which I'm sure I can come up with pretty soon.

Thank you everyone!

I got stainless steel (enamel coated) mugs from Wilkinsons last year.

The rim is stainless steel, and thin so it is similar to drinking out of a fine china cup.I too hate drinking out of melamine/plastic mugs, and I don't like big chunky ones either. For me these are perfect for my morning cuppa. I haven't seen them so far this year. as I would consider getting a couple more.

Fairly old post this, but I have just upgraded our camping mugs, as our old melamine mugs are shot at, although my trusty 15 year old Snow Peak Titanium double wall mug keeps going, but is realy intended for backpacking duties.

What I was looking for was a set of mugs with a pot like feel that could stand upto the riggers of camping.

300

First mug I came accros was the Arcoroc Daring 30cl (10oz) mug, nice soft white finish, but is still only porcaline, but is super strong and classed as proffesional crockery and even comes with a 3 year warranty against chipping, but is by no means indistructable afterall it is just a pot mug, not cheap at £3 each.

So my mug of choice was the Luminarc Bock 29cl (9.75oz) in a bright white finish and very slightly translutant. these mugs are made from a laminated glass material but almost have the look of porcaline and at just £1 each seemed a good buy, so have added 4 of them to our camping kit. They are classed as shock resistant, so although not indestructable they are arguably stronger than a porcaline mug.

And having just had a brew in one they definatley pass muster.

We have something similar, but still tend to use everyday domestic mugs, mainly as they are bigger!

Got a bargain with the Luminarc's though... 4 x dinner plates, 4 x side plates, 4 cereal/soup bowls, and 4 (small) mugs, for just 10 of yer actual French Euro's! Well chuffed! :-)

Yep Mucker.
That was a good deal you got on the set.

For us a 29cl (9.75oz) mug is plenty big enough, and is in fact larger than the tea/coffee cups that we use at home.

Denby Azure Small Curve mugs in a Clip and Lock container

Beer glasses get a similar treatment.

White glass mugs that are part of my Tesco Value set at 7.00 GBP for 4 x 4 settings (now discontinued).

Broke one so far since having them in 2007 by dropping it on a hard ground.

Yep transportation of crockery is not really the issue, as that is just down to common sense, most breakages occur at the wash block I would think.

I would like to think that our Luminarc mugs and Corelle plates and bowls will survive. The Corelle stuff sure did for there debut for our fortnight campings in Frejus last July.

And it was so nice to be eating of proper crockery instead of melamine!

If the dog moves does he or she pull the tray off the table. That lead looks dangerous like that

Eh, the dog was tethered to the Delta dog tether, and not to the table.

He was waiting patiently for his share of the breakfast.
