I think I have around six stoves now. Three of those aerosol types, one of those that you screw onto the gas and have to balance it. My absolute favourite of all, the Swedish army trangia stove, it's yet to let me down. I even bought it dinted, scratched, bits missing off it! I don't care, it's wonderful (although it's way too heavy for the gram weenies) and my latest addition, the hexamine stove. I even have a small Kelly Kettle which can be used as a stove if you buy the conversion equipment. Now, for my birthday I think I will ask for a Swizz Army Volcano Stove. Then I need a bivi, tarp, poncho......God damn it!! Will it ever end?!?!

2 suitcase stoves, an indoor BBQ that runs on Butane canisters as the suitcase stoves, Cadac Safari Chef HP, a stainless steel copy of a Trangia stove by Outwell, Coleman F1 Spirit Stove, Coleman Dual Fuel Sportster and Coleman Dual Fuel 2-burner stove.

Plus 3 portable BBQs, including my trust Weber Go Anywhere.

I take the Coleman Dual Fuel 2-burner stove, the Weber and the F1 Spirit Stove (as back up) nowadays.

Why not just get a Honey stove or a woodgas stove?

Have a look at some of the Bushcraft forums for reviews on the Swiss Army Volcano stove as there are plenty of other options

 - next thing you'll be living in a Hammock under a Tarp... and great fun it is too

Heather+Phil,
When you say "one of those that you screw onto the gas and have to balance it." Do you mean balancing the pot or stove?

The stove. It's the first One I ever had. It's at least 20+ years old and used to be my wives grandads. When we first went camping, it was the only stove we had. The knob on the gas tap just span round and we had to borrow someones pliers to turn it on/off. Actually, I had another one similar to that where you had to puncture the gas can. That one started leaking so I threw it, literally, across the field. I think that was on a camp site in Canterbury

You're not the only one to do that!

It's probably time to remind anyone about to fit a new cartridge to one of these stoves which perhaps hasn't been used for some time, to check that it will seal when screwed in - see this thread.
