Hi thank u all for your previous help to me being a complete newbie to camping ,I have now purchased the B&M Outdoor essentials portable gas dual burner camping stove ,it is stated that it is compatable with G30 Butane, G31 Propane, and I also need some tubing and a regulator. can anyone please suggest somewhere in birmingham I can purchase these and what exactly to ask for.is there alternatives to any of what i have been told to purchase? I would prefer the smaller gas cannisters as space will be limited ,I have an O5 astra so the boot is not exactly huge bear in mind it will contain the zenobia 6 tent ..a large windbreak. the stove carpet and more .... plus a family of 5 .( 3 teenage girls so called light essentials for a weekend ) lol.i dont ask much do I lol. rather get some help from the experienced then mess up the 1st time we go camping (want them all to love it ...so want to do what i can to make it near perfect for us all). thank u all for any help you can give.
Just look in your local directory or google for local Calor Gas suppliers. A builders merchant might be a bit cheaper than a camping/caravan shop. You will be able to get a Calor bottle, butane or propane, your choice & they will supply you with correct regulator & spanner to fit it & also hose & jubilee clips.
To fit hose, dip end in boiling water to soften, push ends over over fittings on regulator & stove & secure with jubilee clips. When you fit the screw on regulators to the small Calor bottles, note that they are left hand thread, ie you screw on anticlockwise.
From a supplier, the Calor bottle itself will cost £30 & then about £15 for gas so total of £45. As I mentioned in you previous thread you might get a secondhand bottle off car boot sale for a few quid. Ensure bottle is Calor but it don't matter how rusty it is as long as it is Calor you can exchange at supplier for full bottle paying only for the gas.
If you want a more compact bottle you can get a Campingaz 907 bottle either new or secondhand. Refills are dearer at £20 for less gas & they use a right hand thread screw regulator specific for Campingaz.
If you are short of space you might be better going for 907 bottle. Camping/caravan shops supply these & also hose & regulator, they will supply you with correct one.
Just read your post and I am more concerned how much space you will have in your car. Are you going somewhere local and are able make two trips..? In your list you have not included any bedding or something to sleep on? If you have this covered then please ignore my comments.
Hi thank you Don, Carole,Tentz, and mcquire6078. We will be only camping at weekends so hopefully less clothes packing.,sorry should have mentioned got the air beds sleeping bags as well.thanks Tentz for your advice as well ,think i will be going for the smaller compact gas bottles you have suggested.i am located in Acocks Green birmingham..Cant wait till we can go .thanks again all for the help and advice.
I've got a 907 bottle and regulator if you want them the bottle has got some gas in it and the regulator has been sat in the shed for awhile they're yours if you want them, All you need then is some hose for that i'd try that big hardware shop in AC.
I'm in Sheldon
aw thanks thats great. If you can let me kno when would be best to collect any day after today ,( doing Easter dinner at the mo with the kids) . thanks again thats really kind of you.
Yeah that's fine have found the original hose that was on the regulator all you should need now is a couple of jubilee clips one on the regulator and one for cooker.
