Hi

We have hi gear (go outdoors) voyager 6 also.  May be worthwhile waiting till they have a special on and buying tent then.  We paid £130 this time last year for ours, so even if we only get a couple of years or so use out of it, we wont feel like we have lost out.

I'm sure they may have it coming on offer again at end of april so keep an eye out.

Welcome to our world!!!

When we started we bought a millets tent which was great value and really stood upto some rubbish weather
Once I knew the wife and kids enjoyed it we started up grading our gear - we now have a Gelet Beyond meridian 6 which we love and keep adding bits as and when see things we need at the right price

One issue with second-hand will be the material that the tent is made from. Most modern tents are made from polyester or polyester and cotton (poly cotton). With polyester tents the fabric will break down due to UV light damage (sunlight) and the outer fabric will eventually become brittle. Unless you are a regular camper then you may get 4-5years usage from the tent...

Is there any way of knowing how a tent is deteriorating before a major problem develops?

-------------
We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
