Has anyone experience of these? The reviews I have seen elsewhere are very good, I'm surprised they do not appear to have been mentioned on these forums before.

Underwhelmed by the response on here but based on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTxWY8-3IvI I decided to buy one.
Will have to wait a few weeks to try it but it looks promising. I don't intend making cakes etc but for heating pies and pizzas etc it should work.

I finally got round to using this on a trip away last week. I used it to cook fishcakes and to heat up a pasty and a quiche. The results were very good and I am more than satisfied with the kit which is a worthwhile addition to the camping kitchen. The only thing to mention is that individual pies etc have to be cut in half to fit them in the circular heating tray.

Guess no one on here bakes whilst camping
I have a similar item but it has a wire tray to place things on,works quite well but takes up a lot of room.
My favorite piece of cooking kit is my pressure cooker...also something people on here do not seem to use...its a small Hawkins model and you can literally do anything in it,perfect rice in 5 mins `Roast` beef in just 30 mins and delicious beef in beer in just 30 mins, great saving on fuel costs and one can use the cheaper cuts of meat so save money that way.
Hope you carry on enjoying your Omnia

In a spirit of 'recycling' I'm resurrecting this post for two reasons:
a) I bought an Omnia in the autumn on a sort of calculated whim maybe energy-cost inspired for home use and camp adventures.
b) I bought a replacement pressure cooker as the old one was no longer operational as such other than as a big saucepan and for similar reasons to the above (stews in 20 minutes, chick peas cooked in 25 mins rather than 2.5 hours etc). Although mine is a bit big to take to camp for only two people. Mum used to take 'ours' on family trips when I was a child.
Does anyone:
a) have an Omnia oven https://brownbirdandcompany.co.uk/collections/omnia
b) take their pressure cooker with them (not plug-in appliances - although I guesss Instant Pots et al might be suitable to use depending on the EHU capacity).
Curiosity really, as not used the Omnia yet... it's sitting in the cupboard ... but it seems a great idea.
------------- Do campers 'peg it'?

The Omnia Oven IIRC has cropped up in conversation on UKC discussions before, but not AFAIK as the main topic, only as 'I use one of these' comment on more general cooking debate, it may be difficult to find those posts, as the search facility isn't that sophisticated to delve into post contents. The idea appeals to me in some ways, as it's a great way of making the most of the electric hob on my caravan stove, and the 'free' EHU power rather than my expensive gas!
I've got an large Instant Pot electric pressure/slow cooker at home, which is great, but it's really too big for the limited work top space in my caravan. BUT I do use it at home to cook caravan meals .....
I've changed my approach to camping/caravan cooking over the years, it used to be more tinned/dry/convenience food for both ease of transport and storage longevity, whilst still basically cooking from raw ingredients, but got wise with experience.
I like eating 'home cooked' food when away in the caravan, rather than eating out all the time or commercially prepared foods, my 'solution' to that is I take frozen pre-prepared home cooked food and basically just re-heat in the van, the extras like pasta, rice, couscous are no great challenge to cook fresh, and most veg (frozen) will cook nicely in the microwave (or oven for roast tattys, chips), but the 'main' ingredient no longer gets cooked in the van. It's both convenient and quick to prepare meals after a long day out somewhere, AND minimum washing up!
I bought a camping compressor fridge/freezer, that I pack with pre-prepared meals at home, run off the car 12v on the journey, then off the caravan EHU on site, works perfectly for me, I can be self sufficient with home cooked food for well over a week. OK, it takes a little planning and time in the kitchen at home, but it frees up time when away, and never really find my self in that position of I'm too tired to be bothered to cook anything 'proper'.
I learnt that trick years ago from a pal who owned a pub/restaurant, we'd camp (tents, no luxuries of caravans/MHs etc.!) in a large group on a VERY basic 'pop-up' campsite in France, we'd take a small domestic chest freezer packed with all the good food he'd cooked in his commercial kitchen and a genny (no EHU on site) to run it, and we'd live like Kings, even with a FULL Sunday Roast Dinner with Yorkshire puds, roast tattys etc., whilst all around the 'peasants' ate dubious takeaways (hot dogs and burgers!) and 'beans on what passed for toast!'. We did live so well, we were the envy of the camp site! Did that for a good many years and more than proved it was a great system. No fancy cooking gear needed either, two burner stove and covered BBQ that substituted for an oven, later to be replaced by an all in one Kampa Roast Master Oven. Did have to remember to get stuff out of the freezer in good time though as no microwave to defrost!

I use a coleman camp oven, fiddly to unfold and pack up. But works great.
