does anyone know if its possible to use a laptop as a tv in a tent/caravan using a tv dongle and if so is it any good ?

It depends upon the tv signal where you are.

I have a mobile wi-fi or a mifi which cost me about £65 from 3. This gives you a 3G signal. You can then buy a data package sim off ebay for £10 which gives you 3gig of data for up to 3 months. You can then access TVCatchup which gives you freeview TV. You can watch it on a tablet or a laptop . Hi we used one at Easter weekend and were really pleased . We were at a campsite that Had poor tv reception and we couldn't get Itv .
Someone had posted on here about them so we bought one from amazon for £18 . Mind you we did use the caravan ariel not the one that came with it . We are so pleased with.it no lugging a tv around etc .just the laptop which we tuck away when not in use .Sorry cant give you any technical info that's my oh dept

I use a laptop and a tv dongle ( Freeview ) that I bought from Aldi it works just fine only place that I have had trouble was in Cromer Norfolk but its a known factor that a signal from there is difficult.You dont need to be on the internet to recieve a tv signal and will have to re-tune the channels everytime you go somewhere different.The dongles are available from other places besides Aldi check ebay they are not that expensive and they come with their own little aerial.Laptops are practical they double as a dvd player ,music system and I have a pay as you go internet dongle ( not a cheap option ) Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions.Cheers.Alex

So if i buy this tv and plug in to lap top when away in caravan i should be able to get TV progs

Gets good reviews on that point I would buy it. It sounds like it has got everything mine has. I have  other aerials but have never had to use them and never take them with me anyway.Hope this helps.Cheers.Alex

you have to download the software onto your laptop there should be a disc with it
