I use old army surplus camp beds regularly which i am used to and like but the Mrs seems less keen as she is used to air beds (which i hate). So in my search for alternatives i came across those "Bed Chair " things that carp fisherman use for around £40 they even come with a padded top layer. Does anyone use these as camp beds for hols?

Yes I do....And can recommend them...Fully padded with 6 adjustable legs(which means I can sleep level in most situations) Adjustable headrest means I can set my pillow to a height that suits me..and coupled with a 4 seasons fleece lined carp fishermans s/bag I've had the best nights sleep while camping since I started using them...Only down side is they are a bit bulky in the packing dept...But they go with me no matter what else I have to leave behind...My days(apart from backpacking)of lying on the ground are well over and these suit me fine...

Jelboy.

Ps: Most of them come with mudfeet..Large circular flat feet that don't damage the g/sheet...

I'm the same as Jelboy although I also put a 5cm SIM on the bed/chair as well!

This is just a guesstimate...W= about a foot and a half...L= Maybe 2 ft...H= about 8-9inches depending on how well you fold them..Those measurements are for my particular beds...But you can get them larger...and no doubt smaller...As technology is always moving forward in the carp fishing area...I got mine s/hand from a website on the internet for £70 3 yrs ago(site now closed) But you can get them new these days for £40-50...I also use a small Bivvy table(table for making up carp rigs) as a bedside table..Also with adjustable legs to keep it level..And is just the right height for placing my fag tin and moblie phone on of a night...Found I don't need any extra padding on my bed but a SIM on top is a good idea if you need it...

Jelboy.
