Thought I would replace shelves in my domestic RM7401 fridge until I saw the price.
Now the alternative, does anyone know the best way to clean pitted stainless steel shelves, any methods or products you have used that have achieved good results.
Also the door on my fridge has been scratched with rattling bottles, has anyone used spray fridge paint and got good results, we inherited these two problems when we bought our motorhome.
The best stainless steel cleaner I've used is called Shiny Sinks. I've not used it on anything pitted but it's worth a try as it isn't too expensive and is available in most supermarkets.

If it is actually stainless steel you can clean it with a Brillo pad or even a brass wire brush. If its pitted it sounds like its chrome plate, not much can be done with that except clean with chrome cleaner.
It is definately pitted so it must be chrome plate, I have tried chrome cleaner which has made a slight difference but I can still see it. I am just a bit OCD and the shelves annoy me.
I've just cleaned up a silver cross pram to sell, the chrome wheels, suspension brackets and other bits of trim were covered in rust spots, after much trying, the thing that worked best was warm water with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and using (wait for it, I know this sounds like it will scratch but it doesn't) Aluminium Tin foil to rub it down. The trick is to keep the tin foil wet.
Well tried everything, sadly nothing worked, will just have to bite the bullet and purchase new shelves, anyone know where I can get some cheap shelves for Dometic RM7401 please.
clean ours with oven cleaner, take them outside a really good spray back and front and leave for 30 min.wipe or wash off.any marks not removed a wire brush gets them off.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I agree with oliverday, chromal autosol is the best mtal cleaner ive come across, it even takes the pitting down to a bare minimum. One tip is once cleaned wash down thoroughly with soapy water and dry immediately then spray laquer to help place a seal on them.
