Hi all, again another newbie .I have been looking through the threads and notice quite a few on tv's. We havn't been camping for a good few years but bought a tent 2 weeks ago to start up again,my question is what ariel would you use for your tv? i appreciate a lot of people are taking lcd tv's with built in freeview and some laptops with little tuners but do you just buy a digital ariel from argos or somewhere are these suitable?
We bought a cheap satellite kit off e-bay but it took that long to find the required satellite that we just said stuff it we are wasting valuable wine time so we just take a portable DVD player now and hook it up to the TV. We didn't really think about an aerial, I suppose it would need to be quite tall to pick anything up though. I know not very helpful but I'm sure someone more helpful will be along soon.

We have the freeview "pen drive" that you stick into the side of your computer. It comes with a mini magnetic arial and works a treat. So clear pictures with something that is megga small to take!
Can i ask where you bought it from please im trying to weigh up my options, were trying to get our 17 year old daughter to come with us but she says she is too high maintenance to camp she needs hair dryer, straightners, kettle tv etc just the basics lol for her to come try with us (we had a static up to last year but had to sell it).I tried to explain the fun of camping is just getting back to nature so to speak but she can only remember the times we camped when she was younger and it peed it down all weekend
Laughing as i read your last post Doz. I also did NOT want to start camping (high maintenance also!) but the OH kept on and on and as the rest of my family had caravans/tents etc, i decided last year to relent. Now i love it! She'll be able to take her travel hairdryer, straighteners, obviously a kettle, and the TV is fab after a hard day either lazing in the sun (when we get it), walking (which i hate! lol), or just generally caling/drinking with other campers.
For the TV, we have just a standard ariel from Argos that plugs into the EHU. Never been a problem for us in getting a good signal (although our TV does have built in DVD if we ever did). We didnt realise that you need to tune your TV in again when travelling a good distance (or so we were told when we couldnt get a signal in lancashire, and us being from yorkshire) so please bare that in mind.
I can't remember but got it off the web so a search should bring it up. It is the August USB Freeview TV receiver, I've had it almost a year now so memory regarding specifics have faded - must be old age creeping in ;-)
