Is it my imagination or has the price of windbreaks gone through the roof.
I'm not into 'marking territory' but I do like privacy, and having spent quite a lot of money on colour coordinating tents and equipment, I am not going to spoil the overall look by having a green windbreak with our beige/fawn/black encampment. the only windbreak I could find the match is the Outwell, mocha.......£60.
Is it me or these ridiculously over priced. Its not as if there is any complex stitching like a tent!!!!!!!!!?

Yep they can be expensive. The other point is that the good old fashioned bang them in the ground wooden pole windbreaks are quicker to erect and stay up longer! Modern windbreaks with guy ropes take longer to put up and don't do so well in the wind.

As I said its not as if there is much workmanship involved, and the fabric will be left overs from the tents.
When you consider how much other accessories are it is mighty steep.
I digress but I'll share this anyway. When we used to use the little 'pop up' in the days before the Quechua Base Full, I converted the winbreak into a tarp...very effective. The poles can be used to weight down the end, then use the spare pole to form a centre pole for stability. It kept us dry anyway. We now use a combination of the Quechua Base 4.1 and the Second full. The windbreak is a 'just in case' option.
Still overpriced

Mcguire - the only problem with the wooden ones is the hideous colour options, which the pitch look like a gypsy encampment...now my OH would object to that.
It was bad enough waiting for a base seconds to vecome available in beige, no way were we having green or grey.

The Blue Diamond range is not so bad more expensive but nicer material.... If you are after a specific colour then it will become more expensive.

Mike - thanks for this.
I am not matching a tent, and yes I had noticed that the Outwell ones' are slightly out by a few Pantone's. We also have a Hartford XL , so I alreasy have a green windbreak.
Got the link, and can 'barter' with GoOutdoors with this price.
Yeti - We are Yeti 'virgins'. We actually went to look at the KIA Sportage but were disappointed with the design and inflexibility. The Yeti garage was the next one along the road. As we have only had the car 5 weeks, we have yet to do a road trip with the new car but love it so far. We have had Renault Scenics for the past 5 years and found it spot on, and I have got used to all those 'secret' compartments. My OH is still getting used to a 'key' , a hand break and no ignition button. The SKODA stigma dosn't seem to apply to the YETI...so yes, we love it.

didn't someone post a while back with a link to a dry stane dyke windbreak? I thought it was gorgeous and would match multiple tents.

Mike - yes, we got ours from DM Keith too...
My OH had seen a promo for this car on Top Gear, so we had some idea that there was a waiting list. We had the option of a red one or an 18month old black one....black won out and we had the car 2 weeks later.
Both the salemen ion DM keith are sports mad, so knew exactly what we wanted.
I am an ex pat from Leeds, but now live in Calverley.
We are thinking about getting those footprint badges.
I love this car, and love how other Yeti drivers acknowledge us.
Roll on France 2012.........before we know it we'll be there on the dock at Hull Mike.
Best wishes Catharine. (OH is Bob)
