Hi. I have just purchased a DVB freeview tuner to go in with my laptop instead of forking out more money on a new TV which I primarily had in mind. The tuner was a fraction of the price and the reviews are very good, also I can purchase a converter connector so it can be used with the main caravan aerial. Has anyone had any experience with this gadget?

I tried a similar one and found it impossible to get signal in any of the three locations I tried it.   Might be better with an improved external aerial.

If you're running off battery rather than EHU we found that the laptop used much more power than the TV.

My daughter had an Avermedia one but it was very hit n miss and eventually stopped working altogether. These days I'd either get a cheap little *proper* telly or use iPlayer etc. That said, hope yours is OK. Have you tried it yet ?

Also make sure your laptop is powerful enough before you buy.  We had an express card one we slotted into the laptop but didn't have much joy with it.

Does anyone know wether either this or any others similar would be suitable for a Macbook?

Hi. Thanks for the replies. Ok its not looking as if its going to be too good, £19 it will be worth a try. I opted for this just to save a few pennies because we brought the van, towbar and other accessories. I haven't tried it yet. It should be with me first thing in the morning before we set off for the forest. Where we are going to get nice and wet hee hee! British weather!! When I have tried it i will let you all know how I get on. Thanks Guys

because it sucks the bandwidth and slows everybodies connection down, but if you are an inconsiderate camper then go ahead.

those USB sticks work great, you just need a decent aerial. Dont expect to get a decent signal with the one provided anymore than you would expect to get a signal with a TV and the old coat hanger aerials. I would get a good aerial and one of these so you can line it up properly. Problem with Digital is its all or nothing and very difficult to tune in. Not like analogue where you could get a fuzzy picture and align the aerial to max the signal.
