Hi,
Last year we bought a Tesco ready bed double. Basically an airbed with a sort of built in sleeping bag and sheet. After using it a couple of times camping and staying at a friends on it. we have quickly come to the conclusion that it's pretty uncomfortable. It's also the most noisy thing ever. When someone rolls over during the night I reckon the whole site can hear this thing.
So what are you all using? What's closest to your bed at home for comfort. I've looked at Aerobed's today in Argos. Yet to check out the camp shops for anything. Ideally would like a double. Maybe a ready bed type thing, or just the airbed and chuck on the sheets / sleeping bag(s).
Or are the metal frame fold up camp beds better? These I guess are only available in single's?
Help me spend some money folks ;) Thanks for any tips.
Cheers, Rich
I would agree with the coleman comfort. I had a double and used regularly. But when I bought new tent although it fits (just) there is no room even for feet to get out of sleeping area! So have now have Hi Gear Quick Comfort bed (on offer at Go Outdoors) with a Self Inflating Matress - but only a single. Works brilliantly. OH sent to other bed area with similar and he said he was comfy too.
We've looked at raised height airbeds to replace our ageing rubberised cotton double bed, which just will NOT start leaking whatever I do to it
Problem is, spending loads on the airbeds available these days will not guarantee a leak free experience, plus you've still the need to insulate yourself from the cold air.
What to do ? Seems now to be a growing trend to campbeds plus SIMs on top. Both are available in singles or doubles. Been lots of posts on them.
For old bones they are easier, avoid the "box of cold air syndrome", and give storage space under.
Pricey set up though and one you'd want to test in a camping shop to make sure it's right for you.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
Thanks all for the comments.
As a fisherman, I am giving serious consideration to a couple of Carp anglers bedchairs. Just like fold up camp beds but super padded out. A bit dearer though at between £40-£100. I'll also look into the beds mentioned above. Thanks again.
i love my thermorest but my OH has never got on with them, so a couple of years ago we bought a double aerobed air bed, and can't fault it was about 80.00 quid, blows up hard and stays hard, we had a minor issue with it but was sorted by aerobed very quickly, under the warranty

Yes, the fishing chair/beds are super comfy. We've tried them. Only downside is they're often "mummy" shaped so aren't always feasible side by side. We'd want a double. I think the campbed makers could learn something here on padding. Good luck

Sylvia has just fallen for a Nash Indulgence SS4 Wideboy on display in Downtown, Nr Grantham. At £349 it is certainly worthy of the name 'Indulgence'. As we are both getting old and arthritic, but still love camping I am wondering if this might be worth buying. Only thing that concerns me is the size of the thing which looks like it might take up considerable packing space. They only have the display model in stock, so we can't see the thing packed away. Does anyone know the size of the box this comes in? I am also a bit mystified why the whole range of Nash folding beds seem to be the domain of carp anglers. We would be interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced using or transporting one of these things.
------------- Camping and cycling in Holland takes some beating.

I know this is a very old post and apologies for revising this old thread but am wondering David+SylviaUK if your Stormvogel has actually gone now (I notice your recent ad states 'sold' but am hoping it's possibly not actually gone yet or you've maybe decided to keep it)?
