I wouldn't recommend gas really but if you do use electric make sure you obtain the correct cable designed for camping and caravanning which are sealed plugs and sockets to keep any damp at bay obviously for safety reasons.

I don't know anything about your model of tent, but when  I camped in a tent with a SIG we used a 2KW electric fan heater, which was very effective, even when we were sitting still inside the tent e.g. in foul weather watching a dvd. When I moved to a trailer tent, the lack of SIG made the heater considerably less useful.

As tango says, if using electricity inside a tent make sure you purchase a proper, designed for purpose electric hook up. Of course, heating the inside of a tent is not very environmentally friendly, so I assume you're talking about how to keep warm when you're already wearing enough layers to be mistaken for the Michelin man!

We have both. Used gas last year (although didnt have it on when we went to bed and opened tent door just to let some fresh air in before bedtime). But found we were using a cannister nightly that lasted just 3hours so wasnt very cost effective especially as we always pay for EHU.

We now have a Honeywell electric heater - it's fab, looks stylish( to go with my colour co-ordinating bits and bobs) and can't wait to use it in the tent at the end of May!

We have a fan heater and it takes the chill out of the air for sure. We have a little one so we pop it on at night for a short while and in the morning just why we get up and dressed (if it us chilly).

Something like that would do the job fine.

Just make sure you have a proper EHU lead bought from a reputable dealer and remember to only use 1 heat emmitting appliance at any one time to avoid tripping the power.

Well, after doing my research on here, I bought
this so I hope I made the right choice.

I did notice a 750w mini oil filled radiator in Tesco today (£20), don't know if that would be better/safer than the fan heater.

Go for a 2kw fan heater. With different heat settings. They are great at warming space up quickly and you can aim it at your feet if they are freezing, we used ours in April, and left it on low overnight. Safe, warm, dogs warm. Bliss. Not very environmentally friendly, but MUCH better than going by plane somewhere. And we use so few other resources to holiday, I don't feel guilty.

That is the correct hook up lead at a good price.

Oil filled radiators will create a background heat but will take time to heat the tent.
A fan heater gives almost instant heat.

We have one similar and leave it set on thermostat on colder nights.

My friend has just told me not to use my oil filled mini radiator as it omits carbon monoxide.  Is she correct?  Warden says the opposite.

no she is wrong, oil filled rads are a closed system for one and you would have to set fire to the oil for it to produce co.
