Mine's the Victorinox Tinker - basically the Tourist but with a Phillips head screwdriver/can key in place of the corkscrew (I'm not a wine drinker!). Wouldn't be without it - has all I want whilst being small/light enough to slip into a pocket without bulging it out or hang on a lanyard round my neck.
The wife's got the Swiss Card which is always in her purse, and the small Classic SD for when she goes out without her purse.
As I understand it, knives, where the blade folds into the handle, like a Swiss Army knife, aren't illegal as long as the blade is shorter than three inches and doesn't lock into position. If you have a valid reason for carrying a knife - such as, using it as a tool when you are camping - I believe that is OK. I am sure someone more knowledgable can confirm or expand on this.
spoke to a friend of mine a few years ago who was in the police and there is no problem as long as you have it for a legitimate use. I know because I carry a cheapo multi tool in by work bag and it is very useful also my trusty swiss army knife for when I am camping etc.
Hi, I bought the Rucksack model, as I didnt need things like scissors, and just wanted a solid knife for camoing with locking blade and saw, etc.
Regarding the law, are these locking Victorinox's illegal due to the locking blade?
As for carrying them for a legitimate purpose, the point is you should carry them all the time as you dont know when or why you'll need it until you do!
If you or you know anyone who is a member of Costco go and take a look. We bought a Leatherman (Juice pro - silver colour complete with leather case and 'cool' metal box...I think) for around £38.00. Cheapest I found on the web was £70.00...what a bargain!!
i prefer the leathermans , had ny one for about 14 years now , used it all over the world ! ex RAF , beats the swiss army nife, their more for boy scouts !
