I slept on an Aeorbed at my friend's house (she uses it as a guest bed) and yes, it was very comfortable and I slept well. But with any airbed, no matter how expensive, you will always run the risk of it deflating at some point (usually in the middle of your trip away in the middle of the night!)
I have always used airbeds and we have been lucky with them up until alst year when mine let me down (quite literally!) in the middle of the night.
We now use camp beds which are incredibly comfortable - I won't be going back to using airbeds again.
People say they dont like airbeds due to the risk of deflation. Cant the same be said of SIMS? I think they are air filled also? If they dont is it the material they ate made of tougher? If so dont they make airbeds of the same stuff as they would be the ones to find. I have the rubberised cotton ones. One developed a leak after about 10 years so not bad. The ones I lust for are the exped filled with down. Supposed to be magga warm but pricey!
We bought an aerobed last year but yet to try it. Comfy enough in the lounge though
We also bought some SIMS for our 'tiny tent'. I wasn't keen but nothing else would fit so it was our only option. Had to say I was very surprised how comfy they actually are. If it wasn't for the getting up/down I would probably just use them in our bigger tent too.
Kids have campbeds, but I found as I sleep on my side that my knees were banging against the metal.
------------- If you see a family struggling to put up the tent then it must be us!
We use Aerobed active. Over the past 3 years we have taken SEVEN back for replacement due to them going down. Only ever payed for the first though as we take the receipt with us when we go and a postcode for the nearest argos. We get our money back and promptly buy a new one so it's fully guaranteed.
Argos no longer do the active dual chamber (did we get all their stock!) so bought our latest one direct from Aerobed at the offer price. When they work they are fantastic ( especially with fitted electric blanket on) but we now take a spare active I got off ebay fo £16 as a backup. Also I think most of the problems are due to the valves which can now be bought as replacments from Aerobed fo £1.99 so I have bought a few to take ( there is a video on you tube)
We had a Colemon airbed, but it had a leak, so we were able to get our money back. replaced it with a Regatta from Argos, and it too leaked.
So we *upgraded* to on Intex Queen with built in pump. It was used by the family over Xmas & was fantastic. Yet to use it in the tent but it looks promising!
We have a Jileon double height airbed with built in pump that we bought from Tesco last year. We used it for two weeks last summer as well as for a number of weekends away and it was fine. It did go down a bit after a few days but we just topped it up again. We find it really comfy, and didn't really suffer with the cold even in May when we went away and it was -4 at night!
Have tried every airbed there is, we've now got...Yes... sorry, an Aerobed! Best nights sleep ever, definitely worth buying especially if they're on offer. No sore hips, no roll together and as it's a kingsize - loads of room too. Fits in one bedroom of 3+3 set up no problem. Always have a fleecy underblanket plus the fitted sheet it came with s haven't ever been cold. Usually have a carpet underneath too.
Well I've decided on the sim / campbed combination. Alreadygot one sim which is only 3cm and it is very comfy so having the campbed plus 10 cm sim should be very comfy!
Coleman dual comfort here. Had 3 of them for 6 years each, used at least 40 nights a year, never even need topping up on a fortnight's break.None of them has ever gone down yet. I find it so comfortable I even take it with me when I am going in a hotel overnight - my spine is like the flipping princess and the pea - have had to use it several times after failing to sleep on the hotel bed.
------------- August - Carsington Water CC Site. Don't know where else yet - only picking up the caravan on Friday!
