Hi everyone!

We are looking to get a solar panel but the size we are looking at is just a panel without any supporting legs.  What do you expert caravanners do to make them stand securely? Any info regarding what you do with yours would be very helpful.

A U shaped piece of round tubing fitted to the frame mountings with bolts through pipe clips seems to do the job for me. If you are are not confident in bending 1/2" tubing then some diy shops sell right angle plastic connectors that I think are designed for shower rails or similar. If it is windy I simply put a couple of large awning pegs over the bottom part of the U and at the bottom of the panel frame. If you want to make the most of the panel a small rod mounted on the top of the panel at right angles to the cells will provide an indicator (size of its shadow) as to how far you are off from pointing directly at the sun. My old panel was mounted on a pole with a purpose designed bracket that enabled position to be changed by releasing a wing nut and tilting or turning to the required position. However I did not feel happy with the system on a large panel due to the possibility of flexing in a strong wind, but it did get the panel off the ground and away from dogs cocking their legs up on it!

a foldaway music stand would do the same job by the sounds of it. around £5 on amazon. liking the idea to indicate whether it's pointing straight at the sun or not :)

definately worth angling it directly towards the sun not just flat on the ground. Makes a big difference to the output. The only time flat on the floor works is midday on misummers day.
