This year I'm ditching the airbeds (no matter how much I spend they always leak/puncture) and I am thinking of buying a good campbed and a 10cm SIM. Any recomendations? Don't mind spending a bit more on a decent nights kip.

Hi Emma,
we use an outwell posadas double camp bed with a 7.5cm double SIM on top. The camp bed has a bar which runs down the middle, however this is covered by the double SIM. Camp bed folds neatly, though is quite heavy. However instantly goes into shape and added benefit of being able to store things underneath it.

Not the cheapest, however after years of sleeping on the ground or on leaking airbeds, its great.

I have just got rid of my sons air bed. Got fed up of topping up with air everyday. Got single posadas camp bed and off to Aldi on Thursday for a SIM. Bed folded up in seconds. Going to get the double one for husband and i when our air bed packs in.

Hi, we also have the Posadas beds.  We had bought the double version, but returned it for two singles instead because of the big centre bar in the middle of the double.  I decided that having 2 singles gave more flexibility than a double (which because of the centre bar) kept people firmly on their own side of the bar.

I too have moved from airbed to camp bed + SIM, and have an Outwell Laguna Hill Large camp bed and a Therm-a-rest Luxury Map XL to go on top of it.

The camp bed was not easy to put up on its first outing, my fault entirely for not practising at home first as it was too big to open up inside the house!

It is massive and I needed to put it diagonally in the inner tent, otherwise, it would be touching the main tent canvas due to the sloping sides and back.

Hopefully it will be easier to put up now that the fabric has been stretched.

Otherwise I cannot fault the camp bed as it is very well made.

I slept very soundly the first night with my new camp bed and SIM combo over the Easter weekend when it was cold, wet and windy. It was cosier than airbed as it was less drafty being off the ground.

Hi

very interesting reading...

Just wondering - do you need something to tie the SIM on to the campbed?

Does the SIM slide off?

Thanks in advance :)
