I have been using a few roll up vacuum storage bags for pillows, towels etc to save space in the car. I am looking for larger sized bags for 2 duvets. I only see the ones for which you need to use a vacuum cleaner to get the air out. Does anyone know if  the small pump which I plug into the car electric socket ( cigarette lighter ) to blow up air beds, could do this job as it can be used for suction when emptying airbed?  Any advise will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

We use our air bed blower/sucker for ours. I have noticed if we use 12v it takes ages, but the inverter does the job.

We just invested in a 'original' space saver tote, best buy. £20 of eBay, but you can get 2 duvets, 4 pillows, sheets, towels etc in it and a size of a small suitcase. Plus has protective outside and stops rips and punctures etc. we are ordering another one today.

Ooops! Meant to add that I've been using the Aldi vacuum bags for a couple of years with no problems. I use an inverter and small pump to deflate, and any punctures I've successfully repaired with a small piece of tenacious tape.

Them the fellas, just found out Dunelm Mill do a similar one and is on offer at £7 (ish) at present, off to buy one in a bit. Will let you know.

I use the jumbo vac bags (vacpacks). I used the 12v pump to deflate and to be honest, it took ages and didn't deflate very well. I may have better luck next time if I use our mains pump rather than the 12v.

 I will leave it for the moment as I would need to rely on a 12V pump to create a vacuum and this seems to be a very slow process. Thank you for your advise.

The dunelm ones are ok, we used one today to put away our winter clothes, we got loads in. Used the dyson and sucked it right down, strap did break, but I was pulling hard on it.(£9.99 -20% at present)

Decided to use the camping blower along with the 240v to 12v inverter and it worked, little slower but acceptable. I have noticed on site, if we use the 12v via car socket it doesn't have the guts really. But I have used a 12v to 240v inverter then 240v to 12v and works fine :) (bit backwards but fine)

We used the Dunelm ones for our camping trip BH weekend, we put all the clothes in it. For the return trip we have a gelert pump / deflator which we used the car to work. The pump will also work from the EHU.

The dunelm ones, I suspect, will not last more than a few trips, so and planning on upgrading to some sturdier ones that there is a proper seal for deflating.
