Hi all,
I picked up a little pot/pan/stove thing for a few quid because I liked the look of it. The problem is, I have no idea what kind of fuel I should use with it. If anyone has any idea from the pictures, I'd be very appreciative. Inside the little burner there's what looks like foam held down by metal mesh. My first guess is alcohol, but I thought it best to get advice before I randomly pour alcohol into things and set fire to them.
The first image shows the whole thing as it would be used. The second one is a close up of the burner part. The handle can be turned to open/close 3 of the 6 small holes. The pot doesn't sit directly on top of the burner.

We always take ours (vintage 70s pot from my auntie) camping with us. Officially, the metal one is a pot for holding hot oil (you fry pieces of steak etc in it) but we use it for the trad cheese version and fight over the burnt bit on the the bottom You could do dessert fondue too, with chocolate and fruit. Ymmmmmmm.
I think anything cupped and fireproof would probably put the burner out. Close the air vents off to reduce the flame, then snuff it out - a strong wind will do it anyway (speaking from experience)
