Want to purchase a double height airbed for this summer's camping trips as my wife is currently waiting for shoulder surgery so want something that will just be that little bit easier to get in and out of.

Can't really afford the aerobed so was wondering whether something like this Camping Gaz Raised X'tra Quickbed is a good buy?

We have the index queensize Bed with its own electric pump. We got it from Costco for less than forty pounds. If you have ehu it is great as it inflates/deflates itself. It is very comfy and easy to get on and off of.

We also have a queen size raised intex which is fantastic.

Another vote for Intex Queen. We've had one for 2 years now and sleep on it  in the awning on our seasonal pitch so it is up all season. Up to now this season it has been up since the beginning of May and has no extra air put in. Hubby & I are no lightweights and it is the best sleep we get - even better than our water bed at home. Only had one problem and that was a leak from the valve but once we found out what it was it was easily cured by making sure the valve is in the correct position.

I bought this one last season. Its quite good and very comfortable. We tend to top the air up now and again but neither OH nor i are very light! Think i got mine from amazon but was certainly no more than £40. £37 rings a bell

We brought the Camping Gaz bed last year and it was brilliant for one season, 4 trips max, but now it just goes down after a couple of hours. Luckily last trip out we had the 5-1 sofa as a backup.

Thanks for help thus far. The Intex Queen Raised looks like a possibility and seems it can be bought for around £40 online.

Coleman also do a Queen sized raised airbed which also looks quite good.

Should have said we don't have an ehu and as far as I can see the Intex bed pump only works from the mains? If that's correct the Coleman might be a better bet as you can use one of the camping pumps powered by the car cigarette lighter socket.

I think I am going to make use of the half price offer when buying direct from aerobed. I think 2 x raised singles at £29.99 each will work better than a double owing to the problems with OH shoulder. Means we can have just that little bit more space which should stop any untoward collisions!
