Was away last week and once again spent a lot of time battling to keep our windbreak standing. We changed form a stripey bog-standard beach type one to a more expensive nylon(?) one with guy ropes last year but still the thing is lying on the ground more than it's up. Had a wonder round the site one day and something caught my eye. It was a very posh-looking, and probably very expensive, windbreak. Didn't have the nerve to venture too close to see if I could spy a maker's name on it and hubby dragged me away too quickly to do that anyway (when he thinks I might be about to spend any money this always happens!) but I did take a photo (pretending I was taking a pic of the duck sitting on the grass nearby). I will upload the photo (without the duck!) in the hopes that someone will know who makes these.

I have come across similar windbreaks with caravans, and was tempted to look into getting some.

However, with just me and the dog camping, I do not mind having to secure mine with guys, and save the money instead.

Started looking at the prices and thought, oh £30 that isn't too bad. Then noticed that was just for the door!

You could easily make that system if you can get the canvas you want for a fraction of the price.You can buy the metal components from here. I have been toying with the idea of a custom made camping shelving unit made from this stuff.I have something else made from the system and its a doddle to use as it just pushes together.

OMG - can't afford that - would cost more for one windbreak than we spend on pitch fees for our 2 weeks each year! I'll carry on with what I've got. But thanks for finding them for me.
I wonder who the one I saw belonged to - it went round the corner and right along in front of the caravan then back to fully enclose the area - a bit like a prison wall and not any less unwelcoming. Perhaps it was HRH and Philip in there and the windbreak was to keep the corgis from roaming - well, it was Jubilee week.

Have never understood teh fascination with windbreaks. They seem to be less about wind and more about demarcation of space - so why not just stay at home in your own garden?

That's my gripe with them too - they are often used to "claim" as much ground as possible. We use ours purely for a wind shield when cooking, not to enclose a space. That said, when we used to camp with the kids at crawling/toddling age I would've loved one of these posh ones to barricade them in - and people's dogs out!

My DD has started dog agility (with a dog, not on her own!) and lots of people at the shows have them to keep the dogs in.

We have the bog standard beach stripe windbreak,we use it to shelter from the wind when sitting outside(which I thought was the whole purpose of them),We used to have a gelert one with guy ropes but was too much faf. I have seen them positioned 6 feet in front of tents,which serve no purpose but to cause an obstruction.

Those "posh" ones are a ridiculous price!!

how much!!!! my hand-me-down classic/retro beach one will do ta! its only for a cooking shelter and tbh the prices of those windbreaks will be near enough for caravan awning of a second tent for cooking in lol
