I picked up one of these on Monday for a tenner and agree the plastic covering is a pain in the backside! I took to it with my Leatherman and ended up with this :)

I've got a similar table which I've had for years and the Tesco one is flimsier no doubt about it, but it's absolutely perfect for an extra surface in the tent.
