Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can offer any advice. I have a Bailey Ranger 470/4. We have only been away in it a few times but my partner has complained of being uncomfortable each time. I must admit the bed, once we make it up, is pretty uncomfortable. I'm not expecting too much as I have stayed in other caravans before and tents. However, I'm not too bad and will gladly put up with it. My partner, thoguh, is on the heavier side and I feel this may be playing a part. So I am looking at getting her a 3" memory foam topper to lie on. I do have some concerns though. I have heard it makes the bed very hot and that even 3" might not have much of an impact on a heavier person. Is this true? We dont expect it to be like our bed at home but just need something to aid her in getting a better sleep? Is memory foam the best option? Cheers for reading.

Hi Richard.  We bought a 3" memory foam topper from Dunelm Mill for our trailer tent beds. the double size fit the bed exactly and cost around £65 last year.

Made all the difference to a good night's sleep and well worth the money.

We also have one at home on our bed and find that it never makes us hot even on a hot night - but also doesn't warm the bed in winter either.

Christine.

I recently bought a mattress topper made by Raskelf off ebay for use in the caravan. It made a big difference in my sleeping better. Its 2.5inches and I am on the heavy side. I didnt find it hot. They do appear on ebay quite reguarly. The only downside is how bulky it is but we manage to fit it under one of the bench seats. They are quite expensive but worth every penny imho.

We use a 3" memory foam topper in our Combi Camp & get a great night's sleep. It's as comfy as our bed at home

We've got the same van and the bed isn't great to be honest. We started with a memory foam topper which was ok but it made making the bed up just that bit more annoying.

Then we got a Duvalay each which was the best investment we've made recently. We went for the summer weight ones which are absolutely fine and they fit the bed perfectly placed side by side. I even manage to atore them both under the seat.

Expensive but worth it

Sorry for the late reply, I've been laid up with a full blown flu for nearly 2 weeks.

Thanks for all the replies. Cant see me getting a double 3" topper from Dunelm Mill for £65. Seems closer to £100 for a double. Tempted to try ebay as it's closer to £50 for a double 3" at 1stforcomfort.

Thanks again.

Richard

Be careful what quality you get, as the cheaper ones are not as comfy and it ends up being a false economy. We had the exact same problem and ended up buying one from snug mattress, where they have hundreds of reveiws on the individual products. My husband wants to bring it from the caravan to our bed at home! Ive agreed for the winter he can...... I see us needing another for the caravan! On their website, it gives details and breakdowns even down to the persons weights (Im not a small person at all so went for what they recc and its fab!) .

Good luck :)
