A company called Oztrail, here in Australia make self inflating off road mattresses that are 80 to 100mm thick, with a vinyl base and a velour top. Put one of these on a decent stretcher and your camp bedding problems will become a thing of the past. Highly recommended.
------------- If there's no camping in heaven. I'm not going!
been to three localish aldis in the last few days SIMs still £12.99 in them all....
in the final store i asked why they were different prices.....
the store manager said each store has its own disscount budjet so prices will differ from one store to another even if they had been discounted at one store they could still be full price at another

Yes, I paid £12.99 too, but I still think thats a good price. Went in to Lidl after I'd bought mine yesterday & theirs were £24.99, so was still chuffed!!
Thanks for the info! Guess where I will be going after work :) Good idea about making a cover for them too, I would never have thought of that.. *doh* :):)
I have an Aldi one and several other makes too. To stop mine slipping- I stack 2 together for max comfort- I bought a 'dead' readybed from Ebay. Actually I got 2 of them for about £12 including postage. The inflatable inners were duff and so they were being sold off cheap. I tuck my SIMs in the ready bed where the airbed bit was and there is enough space in the sleeping bag bit to fit a whole other sleeping bag. So 2 SIMs and 2 sleeping bags and all held firmly together. Very cosy!!
Oh, yes, the Aldi ones are supposedly 5cm thick. Mine is about 4cm in reality. The Lidl ones are thicker and softer but the outer layer is not bonded to the foam so they balloon when you are trying to deflate them. Not so good. I also had to try about 10 of them to find one that inflated at all!! My Lidl had a duff batch...
I just bought four of these badboys at 7.99 each. Aye the 5cm seems a bit optimistic but I'm going to use them in pairs rather than pay 40 for 7cm ones.
Want to have a go with sims but only interested in thicker ones and they're expensive to try out. Quite chuffed with this and will most likely run up sleeves for the from IKEA cheap fleece blankets.
I take it back. I just opened these and left them for a while and they are definitely 5cm thick.
What's more I thought I'd need 2 at once but I think one at a time is going to be fine. I'm a somewhat curvy lady and have had sore hips in the past with the thinner ones. These seem great.
We too have been nipping into our aldi waiting for them to drop down and finally managed to pick them up for 7.99
Now i'm sat thinking should I go back for the campbed they have at 11.99 too .... oh decisions
Has anyone tried the campbeds from aldi ????
