Hi meacock.
Seems like you had found Astra1 at 19.2 Deg East, so well done you, you were very close to finding Astra2 at 28.2 Deg East, from the satellite you were around a 1000 miles out maybe more.
But from down on the ground you were only a matter of inches out, maybe 4 at worst.
So give it another go, you will need to lower the elevation of the Dish, but only by around 3 Deg, from when you found Astra1.
Just think of it as learning to ride a bike, once you have done it, it comes as second nature.

I wouldn’t mind laying odds that you are trying to set the azimuth (lateral) by starting from South and slowly panning East?
I always recommend starting from approx SE and slowly panning towards South. That way, Astra 1N should be the first satellite that you encounter.
Just follow the instructions contained in my write-up "The art of aiming a satellite dish" the link to which was kindly given by Griff10553 in his post. Thanks Griff.

It is always better to practice setting it up at home before you get on a site. That way, you won’t have an audience to add to your frustration.
It’s really like learning to ride a bike, once you’ve got the hang of it – it’s a doddle!
Let us know how you get on and if there’s anything you don’t understand, - just ask.
Good luck,
Vin Blanc
