You'll no doubt hear of people who've "done it for years" without coming to any harm, but it's not really advisable, even if your single socket is RCD protected like this one.
Have a read through the UKCS article and also this advice (and its links) from the Camping and Caravanning Club.
At the risk of Hacksaw Bobs wrath weve been doing it for years but on a 3 socket one main reason is the sockets are not switched so we use a 4 way switched socket for lights, charging phones, laptops etc and use the other 2 sockets in the main unit for kettle and toaster
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
I made up a short lead with a single trailing rubber socket. This makes it easier to plug in chargers etc. and as it is a single socket I am not increasing the number of outlets.
yes, as long as its fused and you keep it dry. if you wanted to be really safe you could drop the fuse to 5amp. if you keep it in a dry place as you should any electric cable. the RCD and fuses should keep you safe if your sensible.

We do the same, but not with a switched one, I like that idea though, thanks!

Yes, perfectly safe if sensible precautions are followed. It's not un-advisable in anyway if you know anything about electricity and it's inherent dangers when mixed with water!
Some 'scare mongers' will have you not leave the house with all their 'recommendations'! Go and enjoy your holiday and leave the worriers to stay at home and spend all their money on safety devices!
