Nemesis Ultra Caravan Wheel Clamp This clamps unique feature is that it locks to a wheel bolt and the clamp itself goes through the wheel, not around it as with a traditional wheel clamp. It weighs just over 3kg, fits in a shoe box and installation is simple. Get a chance to win one!
Do you own one or have you used one? Why not let us know what you think.
I have quite a few Purple Line bits & pieces and they are all well made, designed and fit for purpose. I do like the ease of use, storage and light weight.
I've just bought one. It took me a few minutes to initially set it up (you have to add spacers to the lock barrel to take up any slack and ensure it is a snug fit against the wheel) but it now takes seconds to fit and remove it. It seems no more or less secure than any of the other wheelclamps I've used over the years, but it's definitely easier to fit than most.
I bought one on spec at the NEC earlier this month - it really looked a brillant idea and so lightweight especially for touring.
However, on arriving home, guess what -it would not fit!
Nemesis relies on a forged steel bar some 20mm diameter going through the wheel so that it fouls the chassis if the wheel is turned. With my caravan, on a BPW chassis, the clearance between brake drum and the 14inch alloy wheel was insufficient. Purple Line commented that it was the first time such a problem had been reported to them.
After some agonising, I decided that I would not return the Nemesis but turn the bar down over a 100mm section until it did fit, Fortunately I have a lathe. This proved easier said than done - the steel is extremely hard, but at 16.25mm the bar had just sufficient clearance for the unit to fit.
No doubt I have detracted from the design strength but I suspect the weakest component is the alloy casting. I think even with the reduced diameter the bar will stand almost anything.
I will keep using a conventional Milenco wheel clamp whilst not using the van but the Nemesis will be my choice whilst out and about - a tremendous weight saving.
Having just bought and insured a van, the insurance companies seem to have a list of authorised devices that they will accept as secure enough. If it's not on their list, you may not get a payout in the event of the van being stolen.
weve got one very secure....its that secure that the day we were going on holiday it decided not to come off....took husband 2 hrs to get the bugger off.......but yes very secure......

Had one on my last caravan. Somebody tried to crowbar it off, ruined my alloy and totally knackered the clamp but I still had my caravan. A really good bit of kit and easy to fit.
Check that the bar will go past the brake drum before you buy. If you have oversize brake drums on 14 inch wheels as I have it will not fit as it comes. I was offered a refund but decided instead to turn down (on a lathe) a section of the bar so it would go round the drum.
I can vouch for it being very hard steel indeed and I would not like to be the thief who has a go when in use even though the bar diameter is reduced
It is ideal to take on my travels - light and space saving and easy to use.
Don't try to use too many of the packing washers - just a less than snug fit, or you could struggle to get it off (see previous post).
