Get a proper roofrack as it will have many other uses. Boats, furniture etc can be tied on properly. I have Thule ones and are simply the best, expensive but worth it!
I have the handirack and it works a treat, it does state rain MAY wick in through the straps but we haven't had a problem and they are so easy to put on/remove & store.
In theory I would like some rigid bars but price/storing & potential to have someones eye out while putting on or removing (if I even bothered as I have a high people carrier and I'm only 5ft 4) have made me think the handirack does the job well. I noticed argos outlet on that well known auction site have them at the moment so if you have any problems they have a 12 month warranty.
I've been looking at these today too but I dont want to be bothered with roof bars. I've been looking at the Handibars and Handibag but I also wondered about cheaper alternatives.
