Can anyone recommend decent sleeping bags that are not too expensive? Also I have a very tall husband so need to get an extra large one. Do people tend to be warm enough in just a sleeping bag when sleeping in a tent?

Just picked up two Valencia 60oz bags from eBay for 55 quid the pair. Was very snug at the weekend and they seemed good quality. Would say they easily fit up to six ft.

If you still feel cold in your sleeping bag, you should buy a lightweight fleece liner. It will increase your sleeping bag by one season and and you won't need to wash your sleeping bag as often.

Vango Nitestar XL is fab. Or the Gelert Beyond XL Pod (be careful of the length of this tho - some say it comes up short)

Agree re having an extra liner if cold. Also a hot water bottle. And insulating beneath you is also really important.
